Masterchef Mindset
So I spoke last week about Mindset and how important this is if you’re going to make some sort of change. If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ll always got, therefore something’s got to change- and it starts with what’s going on upstairs.
You may or may not have noticed that a new season of Masterchef has recently begun. You won’t be surprised that we like watching food programs in our house!
So if you’ve ever watched a whole series of Masterchef before, you’ll know that the contestants that make it to the later stages of the show end up cooking dishes which their former selves wouldn’t even recognise. They go from growing up watching their grandma cooking, to serving dinner to a Michelin starred chef and not looking out of place doing so.
Their skill set improves massively. Their creativity improves massively. Their confidence improves massively. They’re dropped behind enemy lines, way outside of their comfort zone and they deal with it. I’m not saying they relish it, but they deal with it- in a way that they wouldn’t have done six weeks before.
What’s my point?
Some changes can be made to the body in a short period of time. 12 week transformation photos are an example of this. But we’ve talked about those before. I’m not decrying before and after pictures. I just want to move past them.
What time period does a series of Masterchef take place in? Six weeks? No one goes from blancmange to fillet steak in six weeks, but the inside can be adjusted a lot sooner than the outside, as demonstrated so well by the contestants on the show- and that’s what matters.
My point is – we can change how you mind deals with leaving your comfort zone behind much sooner than we can sculpt a six pack. Which is fine- because if we don’t do the former, there’s no chance of getting the latter anyway.
It doesn’t matter if it’s difficult if you’re ready for it mentally. In the end you will actually enjoy the challenge and the satisfaction of smashing that challenge to bits.
On that bombshell, I’m out.
